Here are some tips for interns to turn their internship into fulltime employment:

·         Be reliable: Always be focused and maintain discipline at work. Never neglect your work and complete all the given tasks on time successfully. If possible try to take additional tasks related to your work. This will help you in getting a consideration for fulltime employment.

·         Ask for a regular feedback: Whatever work you do, ask for a feedback from your seniors or colleagues. Think that you are a fulltime employee and develop a good work place relationship with your colleagues and your boss. Developing a good workplace relationship and taking feedback on whatever work you do will help you gaining importance among your co-workers.
·         Go beyond your job: Make others feel that you always think ahead by anticipating others questions and needs. Do more than what is expected from you and stand apart from other interns. Where do you see yourself in 5 years from now?

This is a question where any answer can almost put you in to trouble. Interviewers ask this question to see how well you know what they want and also whether your idea of growth is compatible with the company. If your answer looks like you are aiming too high, interviewer may think that you are very ambitious. And if your answer looks like you are aiming too low, interviewer may think that you lack initiative and won’t contribute enough to growth of the company. Most of the candidates stumble when they are asked this question and they fail to answer. Here are some tips to follow while answering the question ‘where do you want to see yourself 5 years from now’:
• Try to answer in the employer’s point of view: Employers think of what responsibilities they can assign to you in future based on the answer you give. Therefore think of what the interviewer is expecting from you and frame your answer by keeping these aspects in mind.
• Answer in terms of long term goals: Talk about your long term goals rather than short term goals. Talk about your career ambitions and also how well you are prepared to take up the responsibilities. Remember that this question reflects how well you know about yourself and see that you give a justified answer.
• Answer should be in favor of the company: None of the employer wants to hear from a candidate that ‘I want to travel abroad for future advancement of my career’. Rather answer in a way that ‘depending on your performance and the opportunities provided, you will take up more responsibilities’. Even if you have plans to go abroad, answer in a way that you will stick around.
• Try to be honest while answering: Most of the times, honesty works than any other prepared scripts. Tell them that you are ambitious but not over ambitious. Know about the company goals and frame an answer by considering the company’s mission statement.
Here is an example:
“I don’t have any specific plans about the future and all I know is to work sincerely to the best of my efforts. I am always open to take up the challenges and opportunities that come in my way’. I am fast, flexible and also I want to refine my skills to be an expert in my chosen field. I will use all my skills and abilities that contribute to the organization success”.

What is Background Checks while joining a company?

Background checks will be done by employers on job candidates for employment screening, especially on candidates seeking a position that requires high security or a position of trust, such as in a school, hospital, financial institution, airport, and government. These checks can be performed by employer itself and some companies are assigning to private agencies which charge a nominal fee. Results of a background check typically include past employment verification, credit history, and criminal history.
Background check differs from company to company as some employers evaluate a candidate’s qualifications, character, fitness, and to identify potential hiring risks for safety and security reasons. However, these checks may sometimes be used for illegal purposes, such as unlawful discrimination (or employment discrimination), identity theft, and violation of privacy.
1. Criminal History
Companies will conduct searches whether the candidate is having any criminal history throughout the state or nation. You need to check each state for its policy. Only information of public record is available.
2. Civil History
Similar to criminal history and includes whether the job candidate is/was a plaintiff or defendant.
3. National Wants and Warrants
It is very important aspect of back ground check. It checks whether the candidate is in “wanted,” list or not. If the candidate is in wanted, it will appear through the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) system, but this information is not frequently requested.
4. Credit Report
This is a very common item for Back ground checks. Companies will search for pay slips of an employee to confirm the details submitted by the employee.
5. Social Security Reports
Social security reports check will be done to clarify where the candidate has lived for the past seven years. They will examine the residence proof certificates to verify addresses and locations are genuine or not.
6. Previous Employer Verification
Previous employer verification activity will be carried down to check whether the submitted details of previous employers are correct or not. Due to the increasing frauds and false information in the resumes has created more confusion among employers.
7. Drug Tests
Earlier back ground checks may not contain this test but now nearly 15 to 20 percent of all Back Ground checks including a drug test. Back ground checks typically contract with local medical clinics to conduct the test.
8. Reference Verification
Reference verification is an important part of back ground check. The employer will contact the references provided by the candidate to confirm the details submitted by the candidate.
9. Education
Back ground check clarifies attendance, academic certifications and degrees earned. This has become a common Back ground check as a result of eliminating the frauds. Make ensure that you have provided the genuine details as you cannot mislead by giving wrong details.

What are the pros and cons for using social networking sites at the work place?

Social networking in today’s generation is one of the useful resources and almost everyone is using these sites everyday for some or the other reason. • Companies can promote their business online without paying any money for advertising
• Employees can gather information which will help them to perform their duties well
Cons of using social networking sites:
